There’s greatness and success in everyone. Though we have talents, what are our talents if we do not work on them? After all no one’s born with an inherent ability to perform better than others and succeed in life. Greatness and success should be seen as a choice, a mindset which dictates to you that you are set for greatness. As I always and will always say, it’s all in your mind. The truth is Success cannot be achieved on a silver platter. Remember good things are always expensive.
Be willing to pay the price and decide to do so
Consider Christ’s sacrifice for humanity, though expensive, His mind told Him that “That is the only way to set your sons and daughters forever free.” He therefore decided to pay the price though it was very expensive. Youth of today see others in affluence and think they can and will attain all that in just a few years and live comfortably for the rest of their lives meanwhile such people mostly go through a lot of “hell” to get to where they are now.
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure” – Colin Powell.
Be a person of ACTION
Ideas are but ideas until they serve as the basis of our actions, what they should be. Many people have very bright ideas but very few are able to setup their minds to make their ideas come true. Upon an idea, elaborate plan(s) to effectively implement your ideas should be drafted. Plans must be acted upon with discipline while making room for essential improvements.
This involves a lot of hard work, dedication, commitment and sacrifice. Discipline should be a hallmark as well as self-honesty. Honesty will enable you to make realistic decisions and choices. Success is not achieved alone. If you think so, you better “kill your mind.” In one way or another, the services of others will be needed to achieve your long term goal. Human relations count to your success because your success must be seen at work in the lives of others. This is very essential. Therefore, do your best to make a change in your life first. Then you can make a change in the lives of others.
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters as compared to what lies within us” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Do not consider failure as a dead end, but as the beginning of success since it serves as experience which will serve as a stepping stone to greater heights.
“Not many people are willing to give failure a second opportunity. They fail once and it’s all over. The bitter pill of failure is often more than most people can handle. If you are willing to accept failure and learn from it. If you are willing to consider failure as a blessing in disguise and bounce back, you have got the essential of harnessing one of the most powerful success forces” – Joseph Sugarman
What matters most as a successful person is what you do for others not just what you are able to do for yourself. Your success must be seen at work in the lives of others. That’s when your works become a success and make your life a fulfilling one. Make it a point to make your life a blessing to others.
“Success in life has nothing to do what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others” – Danny Thomas
In all this, never and do not forget God, His graces and His great love for you. It’s a basic requirement.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” – The Holy Bible (Matthew 6:33)
Have belief in yourself and your dreams
On the road to achieving what you define as success for yourself, keep believing in your dreams. Don’t for a single time let anyone or anything drift away from your dreams. Failure will come and so will disappointment but the greatest thing you can do is to keep showing up. Keep doing the activities and be consistent with them. Results may not show up immediately but trust that if you stay at the barber shop for long you are surely going to get a haircut.
Keep the flames up.
Never give up!
