Born Helen Adams Keller on June 27, 1880, Helen Keller was a personality who wore many hats which reflect in our collection of Helen Keller Quotes. She was an American author,  disability rights advocate, political activist, and also a lecturer.

She became an inspiration to many due to certain circumstances she faced. Helen Keller was born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama. Helen lost her sight and hearing abilities after only 9 months after a short illness. This made life quite difficult for her until she met a woman called Anne Sullivan. Helen would later recount the meeting as “my soul’s birthday”.

Through Anne, she would learn to express her ideas and would later become very resourceful for activism for disability rights throughout the United States and lots of other parts of the world. Due to the truly inspirational and almost miraculous life, even though Helen died on June 1, 1968, she still continues to inspire people all over the world with her ideas, literature, and spirit.

Helen Keller Quotes on Socialism, Humanity and Human Rights

  1. “The few own the many because they possess the means of livelihood of all … The country is governed for the richest, for the corporations, the bankers, the land speculators, and for the exploiters of labor. The majority of mankind are working people. So long as their fair demands – the ownership and control of their livelihoods – are set at naught, we can have neither men’s rights nor women’s rights. The majority of mankind is ground down by industrial oppression in order that the small remnant may live in ease.” ― Helen Keller
