If you have failed before (And I know you have unless you haven’t tried anything new), you know the pain failure comes with. The feeling of such pain just makes you feel like staying where you are and not doing anything new. The heart feels such pain. It therefore makes all the excuses together with the mind to avoid that feeling never happening again. But we can’t just sit around and do nothing because living life without doing new things and taking risks is in itself a risk. So you might want to consider these points before your next new thing to help you reduce your chances of failure.

“Living life without doing new things and taking risks is in itself a risk.” – Enoch W. Kabange

1. Mindset about what you are about doing
Most often we are smart to offer the best reasons as to why something can’t happen and must not happen. We are quick to Rationalize on anything we come up with. However, most successful people have achieved their great heights by implementing ideas almost everyone else thought won’t work. They gave them the best reasons but they refused to accept rationalizations and followed their dreams. The whole game lies in your mindset. Change your mindset and Be optimistic of the future, always.

“If you lose optimism, its game over for you” – Gary Vaynerchuck

2. Lack of persistence and determination
Malcom Gladwell in outliers says it takes 10,000 hours of practice, work and constant learning to be successful at something. This means years of consistency. This is what most of us lack; Persistence and consistency. And those who do it may just be doing the same thing. Persist in different ways. Don’t stay glued to one formula and expect different results each time. Once you persist enough, you’ll get the results you are looking for. This will raise your high self-esteem and confidence levels for the future.

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill

3. Excuses
When we rationalize, we are simply and mostly making nothing but excuses. Sometimes it may be because of a feeling we have for perfection. Listen, There’s no perfect situation. There’s no perfect opportunity and there’s no perfect timing. And if you think you are the only one with a problem, ask the next person to you or next person you meet. Everyone has a problem and faces challenges, skip the excuses and think big. You will make big things.

“The only place where your dream becomes impossible is in your own thinking.” – Robert H Schuller

4. Lack of discipline
There’s no note-worthy success without discipline. All those success stories may sound nice to hear. But there would be none of them without self-discipline. Self-discipline amounts to self-control in any situation. When we are able to control ourselves in any situation, we are able to think through the problems.

“Winners never quit, quitters never win”

5. Not Accepting responsibility for yourself
We are constantly being told to depend on others without knowing. The biggest entity we are told to depend on is he government. If the government could solve all out problems, why are we still wallowing in lack of development? Why do we wake up to serious problems even the government has to make excuses as to why they are still not able to provide solutions? But once we realize the government owes us nothing and that no one in this world actually owes us nothing then will we rise up to take charge of our destinies. You are what you decide and you are responsible to choose the best for yourself. You are not entitled to anything. The world owes you nothing

“You are 100% responsible for yourself. Understand and absorb this fact, and your life turns around” – Enoch W. Kabange

Success and failure roll together. Most people only get successful after years and years of constant failure. Thomas Edison is and epic example. He created the light bulb after 1000s of failure attempts. Now we enjoy lights because he persisted, was determined, stayed focused, remained disciplined and was optimistic of the future even after such huge number of failure attempts.
